Alex Erdekian is a writer and editor living in Brooklyn. She holds an MFA in Fiction from Brooklyn College, where she teaches creative writing and was previously Editor-in-Chief of The Brooklyn Review. For her work on The Review, she received the 2025 Bonnie Perlsweig Mintz Award for Editing. She is at work on a novel and short story collection, and her fiction is forthcoming from The Rumpus and Chicago Quarterly Review.
She’s also a contributor at Condé Nast Traveler. She joined the magazine in 2019 and has held roles as Assistant Editor and Travel Bookings Editor, overseeing hotel and vacation rental coverage. Her travel journalism career has taken her to Florence’s underground street art scene; the surf town Sayulita, Mexico; and Oahu’s North Shore. She has written about sleep tourism, New York City nightlife, and Honolulu hotels.
She’s also provided editorial services to Leon & Son Wine and TripAdvisor and has written for Thrillist, Boston magazine, Healthline, and People Inc.’s TripSavvy.
